Make a career development action plan to learn more about the careers that most interest you and to develop the skills and knowledge you need to succeed in your chosen field.
The VSAC Resource Center has an extensive collection of books, tapes, software, and other tools, as well as helpful staff to assist you in career exploration. Visit, or borrow materials through interlibrary loan.
If you're almost ready for college, call the career placement office at a college or university and ask what kinds of jobs students with interests similar to yours obtain.
Job shadow an employee at a local company, or volunteer in a field that interests you.
Check out the Summer Employment Program administered by VSAC. It's a work-study program for students with VSAC grants. Placements are with local nonprofit organizations.
