VSAC Law Loan
A competitively priced private loan available to graduate/professional students pursuing a law degree.
LOAN CERTIFICATION
By certifying a VSAC Law loan, you are certifying that:
- Your institution is a U.S. Department of Education-eligible institution, participates in at least one Title IV loan program, and has current accreditation through the ABA.
- The student is enrolled or re-enrolling at least half-time at your institution and is eligible for federal student aid.
- The student is borrowing, through VSAC, the maximum federal loans for which s/he is eligible.
- The loan amount you certify does not exceed cost minus aid.
- Your institution will notify VSAC immediately if the student no longer meets any of the eligibility requirements. (All pending disbursements will be cancelled.)
School certification is requested by VSAC after we:
- Receive the student's/cosigner's completed application.
- Approve the student's/cosigner's credit.
School certification can be provided:
- Electronically: Call 888-307-8722 to begin certifying electronically or, if you are already electronically certifying VSAC loans, simply use NCHELP Code 374 when certifying the VSAC Law loan.
- Manually: Complete the VSAC Law Certification Form (PDF). (You'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader to download this document.)
LOAN DISBURSEMENT
-
When requesting your certification, VSAC provides the requested loan amount and fee percentage (0% or 5%). The fee (if applicable) is deducted from the loan amount. Students may request a loan amount that is equal to the amount needed, plus the fee that will be assessed. You may want to do the same when you certify loan amounts to ensure that the student obtains the needed funds. VSAC will disburse the lesser of your certified amount or the student's requested amount.
- Funds are disbursed electronically (unless you don't have a VSAC EFT agreement or request to receive VSAC Law funds via check). You can e-mail us at schoolservices@vsac.org or call 888-307-8722 to obtain a VSAC EFT agreement.
