VSAC Hosts College Planning Workshops via Interactive TV
WINOOSKI – The Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC), in an effort to reach as many Vermonters as possible, is offering two of its most popular college planning workshops via six Vermont Interactive Television (VIT) sites statewide. “Searching for Scholarship Money” will be held Thursday, Feb. 16, and “Preparing for the SAT” Thursday, March 9, through VIT sites in Bennington, Brattleboro, Newport, Rutland, White River Junction, and Williston. Both workshops run from 6:15 to 7:45 pm.
VIT videoconferences enable participants attending different sites to feel like they are in the same room with one another and the presenter. Studios open 15 minutes prior to the workshop to allow participants to become familiar with the setup.
Topics covered in the Feb. 16 workshop include VSAC scholarship resources, how to search for scholarships nationwide, types of financial aid, and ways to avoid scholarship scams. The March 9 workshop includes a description of the sections of the SAT, strategies for preparing for the test, and information on how it is scored. Students will also have an opportunity to try practice questions.
Because enrollment is limited, attendees are encouraged to register early by calling VSAC at 800-642-3177 or e-mailing info@vsac.org. Directions to the VIT sites are available online at www.vitlink.org or by calling VSAC and asking to speak with the Resource Center.
