  • The Vermont Healthcare Information Technology Education Center sponsors the Medical Transcription Education Consortium Project (MTEC) that offers an eight-month education plus internship online and at sites across the state. The program is eligible for college credits through Burlington College and Vermont Technical College.   • Community College of Vermont offers courses in medical transcription as part of its certificate program for health care office assistant — www.ccv.edu/academics/certificate_programs/health_care_office_assistant

  • Vermont Technical College, Technical Extension Division in partnership with Gatlin Education Services (GES) offers online, open enrollment programs in medical transcription, medical billing, and medical coding — www.gatlineducation.com/vtc

  • Stafford Technical Center, in partnership with VTC’s Technology Extension Division, is piloting a program in 2008 that combines an online medical transcription training program with face-to-face meetings at the Stafford Technical Center. If this program continues in 2009, the meetings will be located in different parts of the state. For more information about the future of this program, call (802) 728-1305.

  • Several area Vermont Career and Technical Centers offer evening and/or weekend classes geared towards adults. Daytime classes geared towards high school students are also open to adults (by State law). Adults without a high school diploma or with a GED may enroll in daytime programs free of charge. Adults with a high school diploma or an adult diploma may attend daytime programs on a space-available basis and must pay a tuition charge. The following Career and Technical Centers offer medical transcription (or related) courses:
