Vermont Healthcare Information Technology Education Center (VT HITEC) sponsors the Medical Transcription Education Consortium Project (MTEC) that offers an eight-month education plus internship online and at sites across the state — www.vthitec.org Vermont Technical College, Technical Extension Division in partnership with Gatlin Education Services (GES) offers online, open enrollment programs in medical transcription, medical billing, and medical coding — www.gatlineducation.com/vtc Area Vermont Career and Technical Centers offer:
- Evening and/or weekend classes geared towards adults (both free and fee-based).
- Daytime programs geared towards high school students that are also open to adults (by state law).
- Free for adults without a high school diploma or with a GED.
- Fee-based for adults with a high school diploma or adult diploma (on a space-available basis).

The Vermont Student Assistance Corp. was established by the Vermont General Assembly in 1965 to help Vermonters obtain the information and financial resources they need to pursue their education goals beyond high school.
