Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) Training

Area Vermont Career and Technical Centers offer:
  • Evening and/or weekend classes geared towards adults (both free and fee-based).
  • Daytime programs geared towards high school students that are also open to adults (by state law).
    • Free for adults without a high school diploma or with a GED.
    • Fee-based for adults with a high school diploma or adult diploma (on a space-available basis).

Funding Resources


VSAC’s Loan Forgiveness pathfinder details several Loan Forgiveness programs geared towards the health professions.

UVM Area Health Education Center (AHEC) administers the nursing loan forgiveness and repayment program — www.med.uvm.edu/ahec/TB8+BL+I.asp?SiteAreaID=94

AHEC, as part of its effort to train students in rural and underserved areas, also provides housing support to students with clinical rotations 25 miles or more from campus — www.med.uvm.edu/ahec/TB8+BL+I.asp?SiteAreaID=124

Vermont State Nurse Incentive Loan Program was established in 2001 by the State Legislature in response to a nursing shortage in Vermont. The Loan is interest-free and forgivable and is administered by VSAC. Call 1-800-642-3177 for a copy of the scholarships booklet, or view the information online (search the scholarships booklet for "nurse incentive loan").

National Health Service Corps provides scholarships and loan repayment programs in return for a commitment of service in areas of need — http://nhsc.hrsa.gov/scholarships/index.html

The VSAC's Scholarships booklet lists several nursing or health career scholarships.
